Lemon Tree

A lemon tree can easily be grown in the United Kingdom, as long as it is protected from winter frosts and placed in a sheltered position where it will get sunlight. It is even possible to receive lemon fruits from the trees; in fact lemon trees and lemon bushes are probably the most rewarding of the citrus family. Fresh lemons can be grown all year round. A typical lemon tree grows to between 3 and 6 metres tall and has evergreen leaves. The flowers on a lemon tree are often mildly pleasantly fragrant. Many lemon trees are grown in individual pots which makes them ideal patio plants; this also makes it easier to move them indoors for the winter. Lemon trees are architecturally pleasing plants and can be used to improve the appearance of many styles of gardens. They make an exotic talking point and their fruit can be used for many culinary purposes. They can be purchased from reputable garden centres at a reasonable price. Nowadays they can even be purchased on the internet and carefully delivered to your doorstep.

Orange Tree

Oranges for commercial production are most commonly grown in Brazil, the United States and Mexico. However it is also possible to grow oranges in the United Kingdom from the comfort of your own home. The orange tree is susceptible to frost and so should be protected or brought indoors for the winter months; apart from this it will be completely happy within our climate. The orange tree is a small flowering tree that can grow to 10 metres tall. It is an aesthetically pleasing tree with evergreen leaves and a pretty blossom when flowering. The orange tree is usually grown in suitable pots, which makes them ideal for patios or stony areas. They really can be rewarding plant to grow in a garden, especially if you are lucky enough to enjoy the fruit that they produce. When well looked after they can be used as part of a wider landscaping exercise to make an architecturally distinct garden. Orange trees can be purchased from many garden centres or even grown from seed by experienced gardeners. Many people choose to shop around and purchase their orange trees online via the internet.

Citrus Tree

Citrus trees can be used to create a real visual impact in a home or public garden. A large shrub or small tree they usually grow between 5 and 15 metres tall, they have evergreen leaves and strongly scented flowers. The citrus tree makes an excellent ornamental tree. They are usually grown in tubs, which makes them ideal for patios. In a typical British climate they will need to be protected from the frost in the winter. Typical examples of the citrus tree include lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruit. Not all citrus trees will bear fruit, consistent climate, enough sunlight and correct watering are essential for the plants to produce fruit. Look after them properly however and you will have pleasing results. Even if it does not bear fruit the citrus tree can be a real garden talking point. Although exotic, it is possible to purchase good quality citrus trees for a reasonable price. With the advent of the internet, they can even be bought safely online via one of several reputable companies` websites and delivered directly to the door.

Olive Trees

I have to admit that although I adore a garden that is brimming with fine floral arrangements, when it comes to gardening I`m a bit of a lost cause. Everything I seem to plant merely withers and dies and due to this we tend to have lots of potted plants in our back garden. What we really need are low maintenance plants that will still look stunning even when I`ve begun to look after them. I`ve recently been looking at a pair of Olive Trees that I think would look lovely, positioned either side of our French doors. Luckily this area is fairly secluded and it does receive a large amount of sun. Having looked into the best conditions for growing Olive Trees this seems to meet with the criteria perfectly. What I like about the trees is you can leave them in their pots and they will be happy as long as they are in free draining soil. Looking after them couldn`t be simpler because as long as they are watered in the dry seasons and fertilizer is put on them a few times a year they should thrive in their new location. For someone like me who is hopeless in the garden a pair of Olive Trees could make stunning garden features.

Palm Trees

Having tried in vain to plant various types of flowers in our back garden over the past few years, next year is going to be different. Next year we are going for the shale and decked look to the garden that will be cleverly accessorised with a number of potted plants. Looking around at what types of plants might be suitable I think I`ve stumbled across the ideal candidate. Called Chamaerops Volcano it`s a type of palm tree that harkens from the Mount Vesuvius area of Italy. Normally I would think of Palm Trees as being too big for our back garden but this variety is extremely slow growing and thus makes it ideal for a decked area. I think one of these Palm Trees would be perfect for our patio because it does tend to receive the vast majority of the sun. This secluded spot can be a real sun trap if the truth be known, so I`m guessing the palm will thrive in this area. We have been in our current home for just over three years and each year I have tried to get flowers growing in the back garden. I`m guessing the soil just isn`t up to much and that`s why potted plants and small trees are on the agenda for next year. With a couple of Palm Trees in place and a few mature plants in position I`m sure I`ll be able to create an attractive look to the back garden.

Plants Topiary

Some gardens are a haven to all types of flora and fauna and no matter what you seem to plant in them it will thrive in its surroundings. Other types of gardens lend themselves more naturally to potted plants and modern ranges of Plants Topiary. Although topiary has been used for many years to shape bushes and hedges it`s more popular than ever in modernistic outside areas. Trendy dwellings are using the Plants Topiary to provide fine features in specific areas of the garden. You tend to see bay trees that are planted inside pots sitting proudly either side of French Doors. Box plants can be used on patio areas to inject a little life into the location. Evergreen shrubs like the Buxus Trio Ball can make their presence felt when they are placed in prominent outside positions. Plants like these have a fine stately feel about them and will grace any garden that they are placed within. Utilising a number of the Plants Topiary can really help to inject some much needed creativity into your garden. If you want your outside are to have a clean and contemporary feel then a tasteful topiary can provide the tone that you are looking for.
